LIVING WITH EQ / SELF-AWARENESS

The Eye that Sees Behind it All

We all need a purpose to add that zest to why we do what we do. What gave me the energy and spirit to help me face the above challenges? It is my Noble Goal, at the same time it is thankfully also due the 6 Seconds guiding Philosophy.

Steer your magic carpet to zoom in with me into each philosophy:

  1. Wisdom Lives Within: I allowed myself, friends, family and clients the space to sense what they should do prior to imposing my beliefs on them. I also used my gut instinct to steer me into what EQ competency, tool and method I should be using.
  2. No Way is the Way: Each person is different and I had to adapt my approach to suit each client, each family member, and each dear friend. Also I had to adapt like a chameleon to discover different ways with different people in different situations.
  3. The Process is the Content: In critical times, it is important to ask people to follow a guiding process of what they are thinking, feeling and doing to alleviate heightened emotions. It enables them to immerse themselves into a guided process to help them be more mindful of themselves and also to pause and reflect during a desperate situation. When combined with “Emotions Drive People”, we EQ practitioners can help stop destructive behaviors and pave the way for healthier responses.
  4. 1, 2, 3 Pasta!: With the family business, it was crucial to help everyone know how to work and combine our strengths. We all had a role to play and jumped in to make fabulous yummies!
  5. Fish Don’t Talk About Water: By using the Empathy Cards as an EQ tool, I was able to create a safe environment to increase the level of trust and create healthy dissonance with the challenging client. This patient, somewhat personal approach allowed him to open up and trust me enough.
  6. Emotions Drive People: Emotions are contagious; when we Navigate our Emotions and take a 6 second pause, only then can we feel and spread positive emotions, Empathize with others and create the necessary emotional conditions for change.
